Our Match Report
Saturday was a beautiful day for rugby. Temps in the low 60s with sunny skies in Salem. The Refs hosted old rival Old Gold Rugby Football Club for a must win bout at home. Heading into the game the NS boys knew they had to put on a dominating performance to put themselves back into playoff contention and get their Points Diff. back in the green. They delivered.
The boys in Blue (NSRFC) came.out hitting and firing on all cylinders. After a stolen pass to the house from Sully they never looked back. We saw stand out performances from everyone on the field with strong set piece work and a bit of imagination. The boys led at the end of the half somewhere around 30-5.
That wasn't all they had in the tank though and they continued to work together and run over the competition. The second half went a lot like the first and saw the backs really start to find their chemistry while the forwards helped by having an almost full roster continued to hammer big runs and big tackles.
72-5 win for the boys *That's the official score, Tom just makes stuff up on IG ;)
Stand out performances go to...
Kevin Duffy for throwing amazing ball in the lineout, punishing anyone who gets in his way when he has the ball and setting the tone on defense.
Jebby Nicklas for snagging a hat trick after moving in from 13 to 12. He looked like a 20 year old version of himself just with better hamstrings!
Nate Mullins for keeping the boys fired up with his first North Shore try!
Our MOTM was Kevin while they chose Justin Melvin for his command of our offense and decisive foot. The boys got it done in the drink up too with a come from behind win.
We had to give out a bunch of boots down at the old Tin Whistle too. One for Nate's first try, honest Kevin told us that he didn't get a boot after his try at CR so he made up for his after his second try with us, and Jebby got one for his hat trick. Great day for North Shore!
Tries all around:
3 for Jeb
2 for Sully
2 for Justin
1 for Nes
1 for Nate
1 for Estabrook
1 for Kev
1 penalty try (that one is all CJs, took a hugh tackle and dotted it down)
