Our Match Report
The North Shore Reds hosted The Boston Irish Wolfhounds in a week 9 matchup with large playoff implications at stake for both sides. The match kicked off with a hard fought and physical first half. Tim Wilkinson was responsible for all of the Reds first half points scoring a try in the corner off of a Louis Saladino-saur assist and kicking for the remainder of the points. The Wolfhounds answered and both teams traded penalty kicks, leading to a 14-13 halftime lead for the Wolfhounds.
The second half started rough for North Shore, with the Wolfhounds scoring two quick tries. Once the Reds refocused; they got their heads back in the game. Continuing defensive pressure put the visitors on the back foot; leading to Tom Moore scoring a try, and definitely not knocking it on in the process, to narrow the score. Although The Wolfhounds pulled away towards the end of the game; James Sullivan scored under the posts on the final play of the game off of a pass from Justin Melvin.
Although he didn’t touch the ball more than once Tripp Lennon earned Man of the match honors with a strong performance in the flanker position, consistently making tackles in the open field and securing rucks all game.
A special shoutout to Henry Callahan who earned his first start for North shore on the wing.
The Reds travel to Providence next week for their final match of the season where the winner is guaranteed a playoff spot and losers season will most likely be over.
