Our Match Report
The Reds played their second Home match of the season bringing Amoskeag down to the cage in Salem. The goal was to stick to their game plan and come out of the gate swinging to break a history of starting matches on the back foot. North Shore put up tries early executing Coach Frye’s game plan perfectly.
As most things go, the plan began to falter as the boys started to play to their opponents level and give into their chippy nature. Thankfully this didn’t last: the Reds were able to get it back together quickly and totaled only 5 penalties throughout the entire match.
Though no forwards were able to get one into the try zone, it showed the perfect execution of the game plan giving the backs ample room on the wings to run up the score. Josh Libelo came in as a sub but proved to be instrumental, holding rucks alone on offense and blowing some over on defense allowing for a clean steal.
Another player with notable performance was Timmy. Not only did he convert several of the day’s tries, but he also showed his true versatility on the pitch when he moved up to 8-man as injuries started to chip away at the pack.
With the conclusion of the first half Arif had an outstanding 4 tries, Justin a pair of his own, Lou and Ness finding ways into the try zone, and more to come in the second half.
The Reds also notched their first victory at the drink up as Amoskeag chose Ness to chug alongside Timmy.
