Referee's Official Match Report

North Shore took HBS's place and were the aggressors in the first 60 minutes. Alas, the finishing touch was missing, and Charles River were able to take advantage with a few tries against the run of play. River turned it on the last 20 minutes and came away with a flattering 26-0 victory.

Our Match Report

NS started the match off strong, implementing their new offensive strategies and using a heavy forward crash game. The first half was very evenly played, both sides showed tough defense and a heavy forward attack. While both sides at times where able to work deep into their opponents territory, neither side was able to punch the ball over the goal line. 0-0 at the half.

NS made a few changes at half and where poised to receive the opening kickoff. NS was caught off guard with the 2nd half kickoff, due to a ball that looked to be kicked well sort of the 10m line, nonetheless the ref did not see it that way and CR was able to recover the kickoff and return the ball deep into NS territory. A few phases latter, CR was able to punch the ball in for the first score of the game. 7-0 CR. NS, still reeling, had trouble settling back into their first half rhythm and CR was able to convert another try early in the 2nd half. 14-0. NS played a solid 2nd half the rest of the way. Forwards continued to wear down the opposition, but CRs stout defense proved worthy of holding any NS attack in the 2nd half. Final score 26-0.

B side match showcased a host of rookie players for NS getting their first ever rugby experience. NS was able to out work CR and secure a hard fought win in the B side match. 12-7.
