North Shore Vs. Portland

On the first Saturday of the fall 2012 season, both sides came out with great spirit and energy, though neither was at mid-season form. Portland opened the scoring with a penalty for side entry in the 3rd mnute, and the rest of the first quarter of the match was even, with neither side able to sustain any prolonged attack. Portland, who had a strong wind behind it in the first half, was more organized and had more consistent support on attack than North Shore, and they finally were able to finish and score two converted tries in the 23rd and 28th minute for a 17-0 lead. North Shore finished the half with a counter attacking try after a Portland error.

In the second half, with the wind against them, Portland slowed down their game a bit, and instilled more discipline in their attack. An early penalty followed by a converted try in the first ten minutes gave them a commanding 27-5 lead. North Shore scored a well earned try after sustained attack in the 16th minute to draw to 27-12, but Portland scored a penalty goal and two converted tries in the final 15 minutes for the win.

Hot day to open up the NERFU 2012 Fall Season.

Portland plays a more organized game, but North Shore fights to keep the game close, well into the 2nd half. Finally, the fitness and experience of Portland put in two converted tries and one penalty kick near the end of the game to break open the score and dispel any hopes of a comeback for North Shore.
